The rise of tourism outside the summer season

This beneficial effect of the "seasonal wings" (before summer and after summer) does not seem to be specific to 2024, but confirms a structural change in tourist habits. In fact, holidays are no longer limited to July and August, with more and more departures from May to October, and an increase in short stays.
Confirming this dynamic, the All Saints' Day holidays were a success with a strong increase in tourist flows, including +8% for international tourists. The outlook for the end of the year is also favorable: more than half of French people say they want to take a trip by the end of the year, with France as the preferred destination for 80% of them. Two data can confirm this positive trend: mountain hoteliers anticipate a +5 point increase in their occupancy rates in December 2024 compared to 2023, and Parisian hoteliers are counting on an increase of +6 points over the same period.
The 2024 tourism report is therefore contrasted between regions or cities that have fully benefited from the Olympic dynamic, and others that have experienced particularly capricious weather coupled with "changes in consumer behavior". Despite a summer heterogeneity of performances, attendance should, overall, reach and even slightly exceed last year's levels thanks to a dynamic end of year.
